Travel Basketball in Portland, Maine

Ole Port Basketball is a Travel Basketball program for boys and girls in Grades 4th-8th who live or attend school in Portland.

Great Season!

We have concluded our 2024-25 Winter Season. We had 14 teams play in the Southern Maine Hoops League, and had three of our teams win the Maine Hoops Town Team State Championship: 6th Grade Boys, 7th Grade Boys and 8th Grade Boys.

All three of our State Champions went on to compete in the New England Championship, where the 8th Grade Boys won the Gold Division title!

Ole Port Basketball launched for the 2023-24 Southern Maine Hoops League season to give Portland kids an option to compete in a competitive Travel Basketball league against other towns. It is intended to complement, not compete with, the existing Portland Rec and middle school basketball leagues. It is open to all kids in grades 4-8 who live or attend school in Portland, Maine. 

Interested in Coaching?

Ole Port is looking for volunteers to coach our teams. If you would like to be a head coach or assistant coach, please fill out the brief questionnaire below. Coaches will be selected by the board and assigned to teams following assessments.

The Season

The SMHL season begins in mid-November. Teams will play 14 games in the regular season, with top teams advancing to the playoffs, which conclude in early February. Games are in Portland and Saco. Teams will practice once a week in Portland.

We are looking for Businesses to sponsor teams, as well as Player Sponsors to help our Scholarship Athletes. Ole Port Basketball will not turn any player away for financial reasons.

TEAM SPONSORSHIP: $495 - Your Business logo will be featured prominently on the back of a team’s shooting shirts. Your logo will also be posted on our website, and you will receive a featured post on our Facebook page. At the end of the season, you will receive a framed team photo to display at your business.

PLAYER SPONSORSHIP: $275 - Your donation will fund a scholarship for a player who cannot afford the registration fee. You will be recognized on our website and Facebook page for your generosity.
